Gel insoles are designed to help support and protect your feet from damage and injury.
Common foot problems gel insoles can help with:
Plantar fasciitis
Plantar fasciitis is the leading cause of foot and heel pain in adults. If you have plantar fascitiis you will usually suffer from a sharp tight pain on the arch of your foot or heel. This pain will usually b worse first thing in the morning as you take you first steps of the day and subside the activity. Plantar fasciitis is the degeneration of the plantar fascia ligaments caused by overuse or damage often triggered by biomechanical imbalances such as over pronation and supination placing extra strain and tension on the plantar fascia. If you have flat feet or high arches then you are more susceptible to this condition because you will be more prone to developing biomechanical imbalances are more likely to damage the plantar fascia as a result.
Gel insoles can help to give the arch of your foot more support and help to correct biomechanical imbalances from occurring and damaging your feet. Gel insoles will also help to spread pressure underneath your feet and heel to help ease foot and heel pain and prevent the build of pressure that can build up underneath of feet which could cause further damage.
Metatarsalgia
Metatarsalgia is the medical name for ball of foot pain. Ball of foot pain can be caused by a range of different foot problems including trauma to the foot, hammer toes and bunions.
Metatarsalgia can be caused by a range of different things the most common being excessive pronation. Pronation is a natural part of the gait cycle, however if you have flat feet or high arches your feet may pronate too much when you walk. This can place excessive pressure on the balls of your feet resulting in damage and pain to occur. Gel insoles are designed with motion control technology to help support your feet in the correct position as you walk and stop excessive pronation from happening.
Bunions
Bunions (also refereed to as a Hallux Valgus in the medical world) is when the big toe joint becomes deformed pointing the big toe inwards and causing the big toe joint to stick outwards. Bunions can crowd the toes causing other toe deformities to occur such as hammer toes. You are also more likely to develop blisters as a result of your big toe joint rubbing against the sides of your shoes. Bunions can affect the way that you walk which may impact your gait and cause biomechanical imbalance to occur which can trigger other foot and lower limb problems. Bunions can only be removed through surgery. However if you suffer from bunions you can prevent the bunion from getting worse by practising good foot care.
Bunions are often triggered by wearing unsupportive and tight shoes. If you have bunions it is a good idea to make sure that you wear shoes with a wide toe box. Gel insoles can also help to stop bunions form getting worse by supporting your feet and toes in the correct position.
Achilles tendinitis
Achilles tendinitis is the inflammation of the Achilles tendon. This foot injury usually results in pain and swelling around the heel and Achilles tendon. Achilles tendinitis is typically brought on by excessive strain and pressure on tight Achilles tendon. There are two different types of Achilles tendinitis: insertional Achilles tendinitis and noninsertional Achilles. Insertional Achilles tendinitis affects the lower part of your tendon whilst noninsertional Achilles fibers in the middle portion of the tendon and is more common in athletes who may overuse there Achilles tendon.
To avoid getting Achilles tendinitis it is a good idea to make sure that you stretch the Achilles tendon and foot properly before vigorous activity involving your feet. Wearing supportive shoes will also help. Taking strain off the plantar fascia which is connected to your Achilles tendon will help to prevent your tendon from getting strained and damaged. Gel insoles will also help to give your feet extra protection by eliminating over pronation, supination and other biomechanical imbalances that may trigger this foot injury. Gel insoles will also help to stop your Achilles tendinitis from worsening by absorbing and protecting your foot and ankle from damaging shock that can occur when walking or running.
Knee pain
There are several different causes of knee pain for example knee pain can be brought on by:
Sprains and strains- A result of over stretching and twisting the ligaments in your knee. This is injury is common amongst sport professionals such as football players who are required to twist and turn suddenly.
Anterior knee pain (pain around the kneecap) -This pain is thought to be brought on by previous injuries to the knee area or through weakening of the knee joint via the ageing process.
Menisci or cartilage damage – Menisci are found at the top and bottom of your knee joint and are designed to help protect your knee joint from shock. However repeated shock, strain or twisting of the knee can damage the menisci and result in swelling, pain and in some cases your knee may lock up.
osteoarthritis -Causes recurrent pain and stiffness in the knees. Osteoarthritis can affect joints throughout your body and not just your knees. This condition is caused when the protective surface of the knee joint called the articular cartilage wears away leaving your knee joint exposed. This condition is most often caused by wear and tear over the years and is more commonly found in the elderly population.
Knee tendonitis (also called jumper’s knee) -This is a common knee injury that is result of repetitive shock damaging the patellar tendon resulting in pain and inflammation. This injury is most commonly found in athletes.
Bursitis (housemaid’s knee) -Repetitive movement of the knee can cause fluid to accumulate around the knee joint. This can cause pain in the knee joint that will often worsens when bending the knee or kneeling.
If you are suffering from knee pain a pair of gel insoles can help to take the strain off your knees by rebalancing your feet and correcting biomechanical imbalances such as over pronation, supination and leg length discrepancies that can cause strain on your knees. Gel insoles will also help to better protect your feet from shock when you walk and run helping to prevent tendonitis of the knee.
Frequently asked questions
What type of shoes can I wear these insoles in? These insoles can be inserted into number of different types of shoes including causal shoes, running shoes and boots. It is important that when you add these insoles to your shoes that you ensure that the insoles do not bulk up your shoes or make your shoes feel tight. If you wearing high heels then we would advise wearing these high heel gel insoles instead as they are designed to be more compact and discrete to fit into high heel shoes.
Can I wear these insoles on top of my other insoles inside my shoes? It is recommended that you do not wear these gel insoles on top of another pair of insoles. This is because this may cause the insoles to not work properly, make your shoes tighter and less supportive and could create biomechanical imbalances that could cause injury to your feet.
I have plantar fasciitis will these help me? Yes these gel insoles will help you if you have plantar fasciitis. These gel insoles are designed to help provide your feet with a custom level of arch support that will help to realign your feet and prevent imbalances from occurring that contribute to strain and damage on the plantar fascia.
Are these better than custom insoles? Custom insoles can cost up to ten times the price of off the shelf insoles such as these but with little evidence that custom insoles actually will help your feet are custom insoles really worth the extra money? Custom insoles are made using a cast of your foot shape and if you have a biomechanical imbalance contributing to your foot pain custom insoles will simply support your feet in the position that is causing you problems. Whilst these insoles work to correct the positioning of your feet and reposition your feet in a more natural position than what your feet are used to. Custom insoles may also over support your feet giving your feet too much support that can weaken the supporting muscles around the arch of your foot which can make you more prone to injury when not wearing the insoles.
If I don’t like the insoles or if they do not work can I return them? If these insoles did not work for you or they were simply not what you were expecting you can send them back to us within 30 days of purchase and will will send you a full refund, no questions asked!
